Studios

Situated on the upper floor of the building, the artist studios overlook Westport Harbour and provide a light-filled and inspiring environment for creative practice. Each studio benefits from natural daylight, generous ceiling heights, dedicated storage facilities, and 24-hour access, offering artists the flexibility and space required to develop ambitious new work.

The studios are currently occupied by seven artists engaged in sustained programmes of independent research and production. Alongside supporting regional practitioners, Custom House Studios maintains an active programme of international artist exchanges and residencies, welcoming visiting artists to live and work in Westport.These residencies provide valuable opportunities for cultural exchange and artistic dialogue, enabling artists to respond to the unique landscape, heritage, and community of the region through the development of new work.

Studio spaces are available at a subsidised rate of €25 per week, inclusive of utilities. Studios are initially offered for a one-year term, with the possibility of renewal for a second and third year, subject to review. One studio is reserved for short-term residencies and visiting artists. Please note that accommodation is not provided as part of the studio programme, and artists are responsible for arranging their own housing during their residency.
