Biography

Ian Wieczorek is a professional visual artist working predominantly in painting, lens-based media and installation. Since 2003 he has exhibited widely both in Ireland (including EVA International; RHA Annual Exhibitions; RUA Royal Ulster Academy Annual Exhibition; COE Claremorris Open Exhibitions), and internationally, with participation in group/curated shows in N. Ireland, Germany, France, Portugal, Sweden, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, Latvia, USA, Taiwan, Hong Kong and China; and solo exhibitions (17 to date) in Ireland, N. Ireland, UK and Czech Republic. Public art works include Sepulchre and Everything That Rises Must Converge (Ireland, 2012, 2014); IUXTA (France, 2015), 00040 (France, 2016), and Resonator (France, 2024). He has also devised and curated 18 shows in Ireland, most recently Gus Lynott: Say What You See (Ballina, 2023) and Imposed Geometries (Tullamore, 2023), and has undertaken residencies in Ireland, UK, France and Austria.

Wieczorek’s work is engaged primarily with contemporary cultural experience, and the transactional relationships that exist between the individual and the global.
