Christine Prescott
Christine Prescott is a contemporary Australian artist who creates poetic sculptural assemblages and works on paper using organic materials that she finds both in the home and in the landscape. Harvesting, weaving, stitching, and repetitive mark-making recur in her practice as slow, meditative rituals.
Prescott's new body of work 'Rites of Homing', traverses the ecological and emotional distance between the vast, hot semi-arid plains that shaped her and the temperate rain-rich island of Ireland. She will be presenting this work at the Custom House from 9 July - 9 August 2026 in what will be her first solo show in Ireland.
Prescott was formally trained in Sculpture and Textiles, receiving a BFA from the University of Southern Queensland (2000) and a PGDip from the Victorian College of Arts, Melbourne (2002). She has exhibited widely throughout Australia, internationally and in Ireland. Her work is supported by the Arts Council of Ireland and Mayo County Council Arts Service.
